NOTIFICATION OF CYBER ATTACK

We are sorry to report that our practice has become one of many Australian organisations affected by a cyber-attack.

On the morning of 7 March 2025, our IT Provider detected that a cyber ransom attack was launched on one of the network servers. We did not engage or correspond with the attacker and no further correspondence has been received from them.

Our IT Provider took steps to contain the breach and safely restore our network files and data that same day. We have taken steps since this date to mitigate the risk of future attacks.

Our investigations and those of our IT Provider found no evidence of data (including personal information) being copied, downloaded, exported, modified or transferred from our network servers by the attacker. Data (including personal information) in the patient administration database, My Health Record, and email accounts have not been accessed by the attacker.

As the attacker may have accessed personal information on the network servers, we are advising you of the important types of personal information (such as name, date of birth, contact details, government related identifiers, private health insurer information) that was on the network servers and what practical steps you can take to protect your identity.

Please click here for the electronic version of the full notification or our reception team can provide you with a written copy.

Please contact the practice on patientenquiries@asec.net.au or 08 8211 0000 if you have any questions.

We acknowledge and apologise for the distress this incident may cause you.
